Florida State University’s Master’s in Applied Economics Program (MAEP) had its 2024 class present their capstone projects to professionals, alumni, faculty, and friends on July 26. Attendees judged the projects and awarded each member of the winning team a $1,000 scholarship.

The Unconquered by Debt program is offering its Fall 2024 Financial Wellness Series to FSU students every Tuesday at 5 p.m. and Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Stavros Center for Economic Education, beginning September 10.

Here are just a few examples of the incredible experiences our students are gaining outside the classroom through their involvement with student organizations at FSU.
Established as the College of Social Sciences in the fall of 1973 as part of a university-wide academic reorganization, our college began with just five departments: economics, geography, government (now political science), sociology, and urban and regional planning.
There’s been much growth over the years, with 12 departments and interdisciplinary programs now housed within the college, along with 11 centers and institutes.

Florida State University’s Department of Economics is the largest in the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy at Florida State University. Economics has a long and impressive history at Florida State University. The first economics-related course, Political Economy, was taught in 1899 when FSU was known as the Seminary West of the Suwannee River. In 1926, the Department of Commerce and Economics was established at the Florida State College for Women, and in 1947, the department became two separate units.
The College of Social Sciences and Public Policy invites our Summer 2024 graduates and their families and friends to join us for a come-and-go reception in Bellamy’s First Floor Atrium on commencement morning from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, August 2.
The Division of Student Affairs at Florida State University proudly honored the 2024 inductee class for the Torchbearer 100 program during a celebration on April 15 at the FSU Student Union. Of the entire inductee class, 37 COSSPP students were among them. The Torchbearer 100 program is a longstanding tradition which recognizes a diverse group of 100 undergraduate students who have shown exceptional leadership and achievement during their collegiate careers.
