COSSPP professor awarded National Science Foundation grant

David Merrick – the Director of Florida State University’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security Program (EMHS) and the Center for Disaster Risk Policy – was awarded a nearly $55,000 National Science Foundation grant for a project titled “Datasets for Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) and Remote Responder Performance from Hurricane Ian.”

The Disaster Incident Research Team (DIRT), housed within the Emergency Management and Homeland Security Program (EMHS), was formed in 2012 to effectively conduct research in disaster areas and provide students with experiential learning opportunities, which is often a challenge in disaster management.
