Over 30 alumni of the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy were highlighted in the most recent Spring 2024 issue of INFLUENCE magazine.
Jack Hitchcock – a fourth-year student double majoring in Interdisciplinary Social Science and International Affairs – serves in many leadership roles at Florida State University and beyond.
Nadia Rassech, an undergraduate student studying International Affairs and Middle Eastern Studies, received the 2024 Global Citizen Award from FSU’s Center for Global Engagement (CGE). The award recognizes outstanding students who have actively engaged in intercultural initiatives on campus or abroad and who have exemplified leadership in fostering a global community among FSU students.
The College of Social Sciences and Public Policy (COSSPP) announced the promotions of three specialized faculty members.
“These successes continue our 100% success rate over the last decade-plus in seeing candidates that we advance to the University level being approved for promotion,” said COSSPP Dean Timothy Chapin. “While these promotions rest primarily in the excellence of the faculty that we hire, it also reflects the supportive and productive work environment we have collectively established within the College.”
Florida State University senior Nadia Rassech received the Center for Leadership and Social Change’s 2024 Undergraduate Humanitarian of the Year Award.
The prestigious Undergraduate Humanitarian of the Year Award recognizes students who exhibit tremendous commitment to service.
Omar Al Busaidy – an FSU alumnus (M.S. International Affairs ’21) – was recently appointed as President of Future Pipe Industries (FPI), a global company headquartered in the United Arab Emirates.
Agree to Disagree is a collaboration the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy Student Leadership Council (SLC) and Power of WE created that enables students from across the political spectrum to engage in civil conversation about current issues to create mutual understanding and respect.

Ashley Zeitz – third-year student majoring in International Affairs – was selected for the U.S. Department of State’s Virtual Student Federal Service (VSFS) program.
The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) will hold a listening session on Monday, March 4, at 3 p.m. in the DeVoe L. Moore Conference Room (Bellamy 150E) with students and faculty to join the CFR’s American economic leadership listening tour with CFR leaders: Matthew P. Goodman and Allison J. Smith.
