Patricia Homan Named as Raymond Flavious Bellamy Chair in Population Studies 

FSU’s College of Social Sciences and Public Policy (COSSPP) is proud to announce the appointment of Patricia Homan, Ph.D., associate professor of sociology, as the Raymond Flavious Bellamy Chair in Population Studies, effective May 1, 2025, recognizing her excellent teaching and prominent scholarship. 

FSU Sociologist Earns Early Career Award for Work in Population Health

Patricia Homan, Ph.D., an associate professor in the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy, is the first Florida State University faculty member to receive an early career award from the Interdisciplinary Association for Population Health Science (IAPHS) for her work in population health.

Healthy Aging Month: FSU at the forefront of healthy aging research

In the 1920s, people over the age of 65 accounted for less than 5% of the U.S. population. Today, according to the U.S. Census, seniors are the fastest-growing age group, representing 17% of the U.S. population. In Florida, that percentage sits at 21.6% and is projected to hit 25% in 2030.
